Compression of the lower limbs prevents blood from concentrating on the lower part of the body due to gravity and allows the brain to be properly oxygenated. During high gravitational force phases, the brain can be deprived of oxygenated blood, resulting in blurred vision or even loss of consciousness. Compression of the lower limbs by the G-SUIT helps to prevent this phenomenon.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

THE G-SUIT WAS DESIGNED DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR AND IMPROVED BY THE TEAM OF DR. EARL H WOOD, OF THE MAYO CLINIC. ON THIS OCCASION, THEY DEVELOPED THE FIRST G-SUIT BY AIR COMPRESSION CALLED GPS (GRADIENT PRESSURE SUIT) AND AOS (ARTERIAL OCCLUSION SUIT).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

To counter THE SIGNIFICANT drop in blood pressure, the team designed a suit that placed air bladders at a pilot\u2019s calves, thighs and abdomen; a valve inflated the bladders as G-forces increased. Constriction of the bladders on the arteries raised blood pressure and helped keep blood flowing to the brain. The suit\u2019s prototype was tested successfully by Dr. Wood and others in a dive bomber on flights that involved steep descents.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

This innovation was quickly adopted by the U.S. Air Force. Its pilots were able to push their limits and perform air feats impossible without the G-SUIT, which undoubtedly saved their lives during the Second World War. Today, this type of G-SUIT combination is particularly used by the pilots of the planes that compete on the Redbull Air Race World Championship, where they must slalom between pylons by undergoing forces of about 10g.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Based on the G-SUIT and research work in GPS and AOS, Winback has developed a new suit, dedicated to DELIVER all the benefits of compression for the lower limbs when the user is on the move.
